Joseph, Israel’s favored son, is betrayed by his brothers and sold into slavery in Egypt. God’s favor rests on him, and though he is not granted freedom, God blesses all Joseph’s efforts. He rises to power in Pharaoh’s court, and is eventually reconciled to his treacherous brothers.
